EduGameMeet is a no cost, informal, collaborative experience for educators, indie educational game designers and students. It is a F2F coming together of practitioners working in games for change/impact and exploring their affordances in learning contexts. EduGameMeet takes place on the Friday April 24th at the American Museum of Natural History and in conjunction with the Games for Change Festivalwhich will be meeting April 21-23 & 25. This event will involve people working in the field of visioning, designing and harnessing educational games for impact.

Want to explain how we use a one hour valid assessment to pick the right games for each child based on our company-developed rubric based on UDL standards.
Pitch a solution--use our rubric to help you find the best games. Also, find out about great games that we are unfamiliar with. We will have our teachers review any games free of charge to the developer. We just need to know they are out there and have potential and we are happy to review them.

I am personally and professionally interested in researching the ways games-based learning is being implemented in today's classrooms.
Excited to attend another year of Games 4 Change and talk directly with teachers and game developers about direction their respective work is headed. Wondering if the momentum around GBL has tapered off or is being folded into other Ed-tech initiatives.

Having taught mathematics (grade 6 through college) and completed doctoral work in math education, I have a good knowledge of curriculum and research in mathematics learning, and I have many ideas for games that could help students develop a much more conceptual understanding of fundamental ideas (such as variables, functions, and mathematical reasoning). I've started to implement some of those ideas by developing games in HTML5/Javascript and would like to share them.
I'd like to connect with game developers to help me refine my ideas and turn them into games that teachers and students could use.

I've been building location-based games for museums and informal education spaces for 7 years so I have some experience in what works and doesn't. I'm also pretty good at connecting people with resources and other people since I've seen a lot of good (and not so good) edtech.
I'd like to meet new people and see what they're working on. Are people doing anything with immersive theater or oculus? Are there any new games or platforms I should check out. Also just great to be among like-minded people.

I own and operate a company (iocari) that runs after school and summertime enrichment programs for youth that uses role-playing games in both educational and entertainment contexts, and which teaches social-emotional skills. We also create educational units for classroom contexts that use role-playing and simulation paradigms to teach content in fun and engaging ways.
I hope to share what we are doing (and talk about our future plans for a sleep-away summer camp that combines role-playing games and real-world skills training) and to share ideas with other like-minded individuals.
I'm hoping to network, find interested individuals that might want to play with us (especially in creating our sleep-away summertime adventure gaming camp), and finally I hope to get help in planning for funding opportunities.

I recently released an IOS/Android kids app Dentist Bird, which is based on a Liberian folktale picture book "How PloverBird Came to Clean Crocodiles's Teeth." The app made the cut for Google Play for Educators store and comes with a robust guide for parents and educators (www.dentistbird.com). As a developer with a number of years of experience working in educational publishing, I have a good understanding of the twin audiences of kids and educators and the ways in which to create fun interactive learning content that also meets standards and am eager to connect with others in the same space.
I would love to figure out how to get into the hands of more teachers and gain feedback so that we can improve our subsequent apps - the vision is to create a series of folktale-inspired kids apps. I am also are looking to forge strategic partnerships / get funding with & from institutions interested in global, multicultural storytelling apps that merge literacy learning and games and can support our vision to deliver such content on tablets into the hands of kids in non-western countries through organizations such as the Global Literacy Project and others. (Dentist Bird is going to be deployed through three such NGOs to Asia, Africa, and South America)
